What is it about?

We know little about how men act as partners in British couples. This study explores the part men take looking at social networks and health services. Three discourses emerged, one, there are differences between partners of what is expected of men, two, men do not like where they can get condoms, and three, services stereotype men.

Why is it important?

This study is the first to interview British couples to understand how men are part of the family planning equation. It is unique because it considers how their networks and how health professionals influence the role men can play.

Perspectives

It is the hope of the author that this manuscript influences health professionals to create couples services for family planning.
