What is it about?

This article explores the hegemonic masculinity of the exotic foreigner and the new masculinity of Englishmen in Mills & Boon romances set in Spain in the 1970s. The primitive, instinctual masculinity attributed to the former reveals these novels’ complicity with the ideology of Britain’s superiority and colonialism.
