What is it about?

The idea of a male contraceptive pill has been around since the 1970's, yet little is known about men’s responses to a male pill. This study looks at British men’s online responses. The analysis suggests men are informed about their health and that men have concerns over the effect a pill will have on sperm and ejaculation.

Why is it important?

It is important to understand from men's perspectives whether they would consider a male pill as a contraceptive option. The findings suggests men would like the ability to choose from a more diverse set of contraceptive options. However, they would like an option that does not have as much of an impact on their biological function as the pills currently being developed.

Perspectives

I hope this article informs future developments of a male pill and advocates for future clinical trials to create a diverse range of new male contraceptives.
