Why is it important?
We use Fourier analysis, an advanced mathematical technique that has rarely been used in criminology. Our findings show that there are clear peaks in violent and property crime, which we explain using routine activities theory.
Perspectives
Doing this study was exciting because we broke new ground by trying out a rarely-used statistical analysis.
