This study examines how nurses use bedside handoff (also known as Nursing Bedside Shift Report or NBSR) to keep patients safe. It is suspected that performing bedside handoff impacts patient safety, yet little is known about how or if it does. Using grounded theory methods we examined how nurses use bedside report to keep patients safe.
