What is it about?

Hospitalised patients suffer pain and have increased time in hospital due to pressure injuries, which are often avoidable. We wanted to see if prophylactic dressings were able to prevent sacral pressure injuries in general medical-surgical hospital patients who were assessed as having a high of risk of developing these injuries. This pilot randomised controlled trial represents the first step of a larger program of research to explore the feasibility of conducting a larger study to test the effectiveness of prophylactic dressings to prevent pressure injuries in the general patient population.
