What is it about?

“Greg” was a man living with AIDS who was then diagnosed with cancer of the head and neck. The second diagnosis precipitated a series of cascading losses that eventuate in his untimely death. Although he had lost the ability to speak, Greg maintained social connections through blogging and the support of the AIDS activist community. The findings of this case study broaden our understanding of what it means to live with a complex and unusual combination of illnesses. We conclude with implications for practitioners and scholars engaged in the sociology of loss.
