What is it about?

This article is about the unique challenges faced by management educator's who have Asperger's syndrome. The challenges include managing face-to-face interactions in the classroom, interpreting body language, mono-tone voice, and interpreting emotional and social cues with student interactions. The paper offers solutions and ideas for management educators to overcome some of these challenges.

Why is it important?

Sharing the experiences of those with an invisible disability like Asperger's syndrome increases awareness of the challenges they face and remedies for those issues. The article also highlights the advantages of the syndrome which are often overlooked.

Perspectives

I enjoyed interviewing Professor Gundy Kaupins about Asperger's syndrome and working with him to develop the paper. I learned a lot from him, and importantly, learned of the advantages the syndrome in the context of an educator's career.
