Why is it important?

As more reviewers ask, "What is novel about your teaching case?", getting teaching cases published is becoming more difficult. This article provides novice case writers a series of steps to produce novel teaching cases that are also of publishable quality.

Perspectives

The article features four of the 20 most published authors in accounting education, where Fred is #1 and Mahendra is in the top 5, so the "experienced" claim is not made lightly. Through our discussions of how to write and publish great teaching cases we found that Design Thinking can be used to improve many processes where users' needs dictate the quality of the solution. In our experiences, case writing is no exception.
