What is it about?

How to teach people about culture so that it has long lasting impact.

Why is it important?

Culture is always present. It shapes how we think, what we feel, how we interpret things and how we behave. It is a meta-contextual factor. Understanding and being able to navigate culture are essential in our diverse and global society. Developing a cultural mindset, the goal of my approach, allows people to become aware of how culture impacts them and others and take culture into consideration when they make decisions and when they interact with others.

Perspectives

I grew up in three different cultures and learned that I have to pay attention to my cultural environment. As a result, when I teach culture to others, I know that unless people think differently, simply teaching skills and competencies does not have long lasting impact. A cultural mindset involves awareness, thinking differently, and behaving differently.
