What is it about?
This article is an argument for seats for supermarket cashiers and other retail personnel. Unlike the situation in other countries, Canadian and US workers suffer from back and leg pain and also risk damage to their circulatory systems from being obliged to stand in one position all day.

Why is it important?
Many people think that standing at work is better than sitting, but this is only true if you can move around. The best working posture is a posture that workers can vary in accordance with the feedback their bodies are giving them.
Perspectives
Our research group have been collaborating with unions to help these workers get appropriate seats for over 35 years. Bank workers have succeeded - now it's time for the others!
