The paper demonstrates the shape control of a parabolic antenna actuated using shape memory alloy actuators. A shape control algorithm is discussed in detail. thereafter a steering and shaping of the antenna are discussed through a mechanical device.

Shape control is demonstrated using Finite Element analysis with the use of Abaqus and Matlab software. Such an algorithm is useful for shape control of any flexible structure. SMA actuated locking- unlocking device discussed in the paper is a novel contribution in the direction of shape control using SMA.
