What is it about?

An observational study looking at rehospitalisation rate in schizophrenia and its association with clinical and socio-demographic variables

Why is it important?

This is a real life study on a cohort with comorbidities . Rehospitalisation rate is higher in schizophrenia , therefore finding the predictors would help to reduce relapse and rehospitalisation , thereby may also improve outcome for this group.

Perspectives

Schizophrenia is a chronic illness and recurrent hospitalisation is a norm rather than exception. Despite years of research we are still struggling with rate of relapse and disability . RCT , even though is gold standard , has not been able to capture the group we see on a daily basis . This is due to multiple factors . Therefore , we need more and more real life studies to accumulate the data in order to help us to examine the predictors associated with relapse an disability.
