What is it about?
Participation in a group activity improves levels of activities of daily living and self-rated health in community-dwelling older adults. However, whether group activity is associated with daily physical activity (PA) levels and medical costs has not yet been studied. In this study, questionnaire survey regarding daily PA and an analysis of medical costs in group activity participants was conducted.

Why is it important?
1) levels of daily PA were greater in group activity participants than in non-participant counterparts. 2) medical costs after the onset of group activities were lower in participants than non-participants.
