What is it about?

Colombian internal war was one of the longest and toughest in the Western Hemisphere, during more than 50 years political elites sponsored a "civilian militarism" to avoid to be overthrown by insurgent groups. This generated a contradictory scenario where nominally there has been a democracy but many civilian freedoms have been limited over the years. Moreover, the military was empowered as a main social actor into the society.
