What is it about?

Using mathematical models and statistical inference, we study the spread of middle east respiratory syndrome among camels. This is the first of its kind modelling for mers among camels. Previous studies all focused on spread of mers among human.

Why is it important?

Since mers has the potential to cause large scale outbreaks among human, it is important to understand its persistence among camels.

Perspectives

This work helped us gain a better understanding on the spread of mers among camels, and yielded crucial parameter estimates and laid the ground for design of control strategies.
