A review of the literature looking at how librarians are assessing information literacy, including whether there is any attempt to ensure reliability and validity of the test instruments used, as reported in the peer-reviewed articles reviewed.

Why is it important?

There are lots of articles describing attempts to test Information Literacy, but few of them really consider what Information Literacy is, or whether their testing actually answers the questions they may be asking! This article gives a "jumping off" point for librarians looking for good and poor practice in the area before developing their own work in this area.
