Study of the harmful effects of crack cocaine smoke in pregnant rats, maternal evaluation of toxic and reproductive effects and evaluation of fetuses for bone and visceral malformation

Why is it important?

This study is the first in the literature to evaluate the effects of crack burning smoke on fetal development, making it possible to compare the effects observed in laboratory animals in a controlled environment with those observed in human studies.

Perspectives

Possibility to develop further studies using the methodology employed here for post-behavioral and immunotoxicity studies, for example.
