What is it about?
HNK-102, a newly synthesized oxime, was found to be more effective compared to that of presently used 2-PAM, as an antidote against acute Sarin (one of the Nerve Agents) poisoning in Swiss albino mice.

Why is it important?
HNK-102, a newly synthesized oxime, was found to be more effective and less toxic compared to existing 2-PAM.
Perspectives
Attempts are being made globally to identify and develop an oxime antidote for the treatment of organophosphorous poisoning e.g. insecticides and Nerve Agents. In order to achieve it, a series of oximes were synthesized and HNK-102 was found to be more effective and less toxic compared to existing 2-PAM in vivo.
