What is it about?

how to understand the climate and environment changes on the central part of Tibetan Plateau about 10ka

Why is it important?

The paper provides a record for further evidences for the complex relationship of insolation-induces temperature, evaporation, and precipitation affecting the regional climate changes on the Tibetan Plateau.

Perspectives

Multiple proxies of lake sediment have been widely used to trace palaeo-climate and palaeo-environment changes. This paper provides a non-glacial meltwater-fed lake sediment record for the past 13.8 cal ka in the central Tibetan Plateau using n-alkanes as well as their hydrogen isotope method. The result shows some different with those glacial meltwater-fed lakes records in the early Holocene, which would provide evidence for the air circulation pattern on the central Tibetan Plateau in the early Holocene.
