What is it about?

Multi-pressure approach is a new way to implement energy efficient hydraulic actuation. This kind of systems are difficult to control and we have developed a new control method to simultaneously minimize energy consumption and tracking error.

Why is it important?

Energy efficient motion control of hydraulic actuators is largely unsolved problem. We have experimentally demonstrated excellent energy efficiency for a system with large inertial load. The solution is new and it can be applied e.g. in working machines, where it would have big positive effect on the fuel consumption.
