What is it about?

Critique of fundamental social structures often is not related to empirical research. On the other hand, empirical research often does not lead sistematicaly to fundamental social critique. The approach offered here tries to close the gap between theoretical critique and empirical research.

Why is it important?

Critique is the more powerfull the more its normative grounds are shared by society. The article shows that there is a potential even for radical critique in everyday experiences of ordinary people.

Perspectives

Often discourse analysts are not reflexive enough about what it means to critizise society. On the other hand social and political philosophers often elaborate their arguments without taking into account the everyday experiences of ordinary people. The article is aimed at both collectives and can help empirical researcher to overcome a theoretical deficit and critical theorist to overcome an empirical deficit.
