What is it about?

Atheism has a long history in France and is strongly linked to the French conception of a secular society in which religion is separated from the state. Recent atheist philosophers have concentrated less on attacking religion and more on understanding its place in history and in present day society. They now put forward broadly humanist philosophies that make space for spiritual concerns.
