What is it about?
The eMaintenance solutions used in the railway sector generally depend on standard Internet infrastructure which makes them vulnerable to cybersecurity threats. Therefore, organizations using ICT-based maintenance must be vigilant, fully aware, and trained to follow cybersecurity practices at all times. This study provides cybersecurity statistics in railway sector along with cybersecurity challenges.

Why is it important?
It has been shown that cybersecurity activities are undergoing in the railway sector and one of its examples is CYRAIL project. Some cybersecurity practices and standards are available, but these are either organization specific or country specific. More advanced and proactive holistic standards/frameworks/models are required so that this sector is better prepared. In other words, there is a need to extend this work.
Perspectives
I hope this article will help the researchers in the area of cybersecurity to visualize the statistics and challenges of cybersecurity in the railway sector. This will help these organizations to think that there is a need to unite and communicate cybersecurity instances with each other.
