What is it about?
In this paper, I report on some CFD simulation for exhaust gas flow through some model design of mufflers, which I believe can bring about a change in design of automotive mufflers in the scenario of the problem of noise pollution. I think the readers will find the design considerations informative and practically applicable.

Why is it important?
The author had studied the flow characteristics of exhaust gases through absorptive, reactive and resonating type of muffler using CFD simulation.
Perspectives
The flow of exhaust gases are studied for various types of muffler and the different types are combined to obtain a proposed hybrid optimized design. Comprehensive simulation results were incorporated to show the ways in which the muffler design changes the pressure, the velocity and the turbulence to point out the optimum configuration has a better performance for silencing the engine.
