In real-world applications like LV design problem, uncertainties have a significant impact on the mission. Because of the inevitable uncertainties, deterministic optimization of LV trajectory may lead to a path that is sensitive to uncertainties.
Perspectives
All through the real lifecycle of the complex mechanical and aerospace systems, there inherently exist inevitable uncertainties arising from vehicle parameters, as well as environmental and operational conditions. I hope this article illustrates the importance of using uncertainty-based design methodologies especially in the field of aerospace engineering.
