What is it about?

Discusses a new factor to assess the efficiency of various systems to absorb static and dynamic energies in structures.

Why is it important?

From an environmental viewpoint, application of this factor would prevent an excessive use of material in a particular structural design, such as in transportation systems. Also, it assists to select the best design from a safety viewpoint.

Perspectives

It is my aim to increase the efficiency of design and improve safety in various structural systems such as cars, trains, ships, etc. This factor leads to a better understanding and appreciation for the correct choice of materials and energy absorbing systems which are used throughout the engineering field.
