What is it about?

It is about model identification of a solid-core active magnetic bearing (AMB) which is subject to strong eddy currents under both current drive and voltage drive.

Why is it important?

This paper shows that the effect of eddy currents on the dynamics of the solid-core AMB is quite different under current and voltage drives. The influence of eddy currents on the system dynamics is much smaller under voltage drive than that under current drive.

Perspectives

According to the research, to a solid-core AMB which is subject to strong eddy currents, the voltage drive is a more reasonable choice than the current drive, as the influence of eddy currents on the system dynamics is much smaller under voltage drive.
