This article discusses a way for undergraduate college students to develop the type of career-related skills employers desire, which can help them transition from college to careers . It has applicability to various college majors and disciplines.

Why is it important?
It can be difficult for Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), especially microbusinesses, to meaningful engage with colleges and universities. This study highlights the importance of entrepreneurial ecosystems and how undergraduate students from various disciplines can gain career-related skills while simultaneously supporting local economic development efforts.
Perspectives
Microbusinesses (those under 20 employees) often lack the infrastructure to successfully host an internship or actively engage with colleges and universities. This study highlights experiential learning opportunities offered through business incubators.
