What is it about?

This study found that employees' perceptions of their organization's CSR practices could strengthen relationships between employees and their organizations. Specifically, the more the organization practiced ethical CSR, the higher the trust in the organization; the more law abiding the organization, higher the commitment to and satisfaction with the organization; and the more the organization engaged in social problems, higher the sense of control over the organization-employee relationship.

Why is it important?

Since ethical and legal aspects of CSR impact trust, commitment and satisfaction the most, organizations could focus on these aspects before venturing externally to engage in pressing social issues of the day. However, engaging in discretionary/philanthropic responsibilities is also important as it gives the employees an increased sense of control over the relationship.
