What is it about?

Currently, heat resistance of expanded polystyrene (EPS) foam is widely used for energy saving in buildings. Despite of all benefits, these materials are generally sensitive to heat and highly flammable. We developed EPS surface activation and SiO2 thin films deposition technology which allowed us partially protect EPS from flame torch–induced heat up to 60 s.
