What is it about?

The Syrian Civil War has seen a sharp increase in the number of foreign fighters joining jihadist movements. This article offers the first systematic study of the differences among different generations of jihadist foreign fighters (JFF). It also compares the ones joining the Islamic State with other groups in Syria. It is based on an original sample of 477 JFFs from Turkey.
