Web-Based Assessment of Children’s Social-Emotional Comprehension

What is it about?

This paper describes the measurement qualities of SELweb, an innovative web-based system to assess social-emotional skills in children from kindergarten to third grade. SELweb assesses these skills directly, through a series of engaging and challenging tasks children complete on the computer.

Why is it important?

Social-emotional skills are important for success in school and life. However, there are very few tools for directly assessing these skills, and even fewer tools that are easy to use, highly scalable, and technically sound. SELweb addresses this gap.
