What is it about?

We evaluated technologies of thermal power plants specilized in the burning of municipal solid wastes to be used in Brazil - in this first analysis, we compared two competing technologies, in a low capacity scale (4-11 MWe), for a subsequent extrapolation to cities or metropolitan regions with more than 1,000,000 inhabittants.

Why is it important?

Hybrid cycles (burning natural gas and municipal solid wastes) are a reality in some countries and solid wastes gasification combined cycle is a promising technology - so, we compared them in technical and economic terms for stating their performances and subsidize future decisions about their use.

Perspectives

With the results of this article we intend to extrapolate them to real plants, burning the totality of refuse derived fuel (after recovering recyclable components of municipal solid wastes).
