What is it about?

During combustion of waste are ingredients released that create deposits on the side walls. The deposits are removed during operation of the boiler with water-cannons or other cleaning systems. To make the cleanng more efficient the cleaning process has to be understood more in detail. In scope of the paper are investigations in that field combined with a deposit caracterization.

Why is it important?

Many cleaning systems are adjusted to firing parameters or temperature measurements without considering the type of deposit that one can find inside the boiler. The paper gives an overview over possible deposit types and suitable cleaning setups, so that the cleaning can be designed more situation-oriented.

Perspectives

The research for this article was very enriching as it combined labotratory research and practical measurements in real power plants. The high interest of industry partners in that topic encouraged us to put more effort in that research field.
