Why is it important?
This article is important because organizations produce a very large portion of total environmental pollution, and the findings provide information that can be used by policy makers to curtail pollution.
Perspectives
This article moves beyond previous research on disproportionality, which focuses on variation in environmental pollution by industry. As a result, little was know about how organizational and political-legal arrangements are related to environmental pollution.
