What is it about?
What are the pathways that Kenyan environmental organizations interact with and receive information from global and international organizations? Previous research has focused on membership in INGOs. This research shows that there are multiple and even more common ways that these organizations interact - training by the global organization, funding, and conferences. Additionally, the type of global actor is more diverse than INGOs. They include foundations, state development aid agencies, embassies, and UN organizations. The type of global organization that domestic environmental organization is connected to is correlated to specific preferences for global climate change policies. Domestic environmental organizations that are connected to international development aid organizations are more likely to prioritize climate justice policies, while domestic organizations connected to state development aid agencies are more likely to support policies that prioritize emissions reductions for all.

Why is it important?
If and how global and international actors influence domestic policy matters regarding the exercise of power, the diffusion of ideas and norms, and the successful cooperation of nation states to address climate change. Additionally, this points to a more complicated and connected globalization process among civil society actors.
