What is it about?

This article analyzes the different strengths of the anterior and posterior ligaments of the proximal tibiofibular joint

Why is it important?

This article demonstrates that the anterior ligaments of the proximal tibiofibular joint are 3 times stronger than the posterior ligaments. Hence, this would explain why 80% of injuries to the proximal tibiofibular joint involve the posterior ligament complex.

Perspectives

This article is one of the first to define the overall strength of the ligaments surrounding the proximal tibiofibular joint. This will serve as an excellent guide as to the strength necessary for ligaments which reconstruct the proximal tibiofibular joint.
