Why is it important?

knee injuries are common especially in female athletes and identifying risk factors can help target prevention strategies

Perspectives

I am the head team physician at the University of Washington and I see lots of kids with injuries at the college and youth level. These injuries are tough and athletes and their families and as physicians we need to focus on prevention just as much as treatment. I am also the parent of a female youth soccer player and I would like to see the sport as safe as possible for her and her friends.
