What is it about?

At La Plata city, after a big flood, academics and goverment joint together to find solutions for future situations alike. Institutional repositories and date repositories are being used as the main place to share data, reports and studies about all issues related to water control: rains, rivers, pipes, weather, etc.

Why is it important?

The use of academic outputs to solve concrete society problems is not common in Argentina. Besides, the idea behing this project sets a ground base for future projects: open access to all scientific and academic publications and data.

Perspectives

I really hope these repositories continue to grow, and the our government begin to consider all academic outputs as a source for projects, initiatives and any state investment. So far, it is all being done based on politics, which isn't always what society actually needs.
