Why is it important?
These issues need to be addressed by librarians since they are important for posterity and preservation. The survival of cultural heritage and stakeholders' perception of libraries depends on it.
Perspectives
I enjoyed researching and writing this article. I enrolled in library school under the assumption the information deficit emanated from external factors. Now I am in the profession I realize the danger stems also from the bibliophiles themselves.
