What is it about?

How should we understand the rise of horizontal politics? Can a hybrid Anarchist and Marxist theory help us grasp its significance? What are the options for horizontal movements, in the wake of the Greek 'Oxi' vote?

Why is it important?

In the aftermath of the Greek 'Oxi' vote, it's perhaps unclear how the left should proceed. In this piece, we argue that anarchist-Marxist hybridity is at the center of contemporary horizontalist strategy, and that a piecemeal turn towards the state is not necessarily anathema to it.

Perspectives

One of the interesting things we learned in writing this paper was how Marxist and anarchist analyses of things like the Occupy Wall Street were placing emphases on different aspects of the movements' activity. The focus on time and space, respectively, seemed to suggest that a study focused on both of these aspects might offer some insight into movement strategy today.
