What is it about?
Stress, viral infection, bad weather including cold rain, and castration are recognized as risk factors for bovine respiratory disease and particularly bacterial pneumonia in cattle. This article discusses how these predisposing factors interfere with the immune defences of the respiratory tract and allow bacteria to proliferate in the upper respiratory tract and reach the lungs.
