What is it about?
Carpal tunnel syndrome is a hand problema affecting millions of people all over the world. In the USA alone it is estimated that more than 400,000 people are operated to this condition every year. My paper describes a simple and SAFE way to perform the operation through a 1cm palmar wrist crease incision (without the burden and the expense of of using an arthroscope). Minimal surgical training is necessary.

Why is it important?
Carpal tunnel surgery, apparently, is a simple operation that can be done with a simple scapel blade, through a palmar incision in the hand. Therefore, orthopaedic, plastic, neuro and even general surgeons perform it. The problem is that a small % of patients develop significant scar pain problems and worse: nerve (and other) lesions do to incidental (iatrogenic) section during the operation - resulting in a problem that may affect the patient for life. Although the probability of this happening is small, given the large number of people operated, the number of people affected is quite large.
