What is it about?
We evaluate, after arterial occlusion, the impact of a moderately increase and/or a rapid and extensive blood flow during reperfusion on cell damage and cell death markers.

Why is it important?
To avoid blood flow "tsunami" after arterial occlusion, blood flow was moderately increase during reperfusion leading to a better improvement as compared to a rapid and extensive reperfusion.
Perspectives
After an embolic stroke, controlled ablation of the thrombus ensuring the progressive restoration of arterial pressure and blood supply could be benefit in order to avoid the “blood tsunami” leading to local oxidative stress and nitrogen species synthesis. Our work clearly shows that a progressive cerebral arterial recanalization following stroke may induce better outcomes.
