What is it about?

Poll show that about one-third of the American public believe that scientists substantially disagree over whether human activities are causing global warming. My article shows that instead, publishing climate scientists are virtually unanimous (over 99.99%) on man-made global warming.

Why is it important?

That climate scientists are virtually unanimous on man-made global warming matters because it removes any excuse for delaying action, showing that such delays and denials have no foundation in science, but stem from politics and ideology. Hitler, Mao, and Stalin all let ideology trump science, and tens of millions died.

Perspectives

People have known for some time that there is a strong consensus on man-made global warming, even though global warming deniers always claim otherwise. For the last several years, the world has been misled into believing that the consensus is 97%, which would mean that 3% of scientists reject the theory. In history, 3% have sometimes been right and the remainder wrong. But my work shows that instead of 97%, the consensus is 99.99%. Seldom if ever have scientists been so close to unanimous and wrong.
