Why is it important?

Falls in the elderly represent an important public health problem. Falling events can cause minor injuries, but also more severe ones, which can cause restriction on activities of daily living and increased costs with hospitalization and rehabilitation. Hence, falls prevention programs have been a public health focus around the world.

Perspectives

This review provides important findings for the prevention of falling. In addition, the review presents an important message regarding the risk of bias of randomized controlled trials, which should be addressed in future studies with virtual reality.
