This study was carried out to investigate the current and prospective challenges faced by academic libraries in Pakistan and to present possible solutions addressing these challenges.

Why is it important?
There is valuable literature available on the current challenges being faced by libraries and their subsequent solutions, but there are very limited studies addressing the future challenges and emerging role of library professionals in this modern era of technological advances and innovations
Perspectives
This article is an attempt to highlight the future challenge and emerging role of academic libraries and it is not limited to Pakistan only. The future challenge and emerging roles are looking equally challenging for developing and under-developing countries, albeit, the developing countries are greatly affecting. I hope this article will help to understand the future roles of academic libraries.
