Top-down and bottom-up narratives of peace and conflict

What is it about?

Drawing on the Everyday Peace Indicators project, the article considers the systems that make and reinforce top-down hegemonic narratives of violent conflict. The article goes on to look at bottom-up narratives of conflict and examines how they differ from top-down ones.

Why is it important?

Much peacebuilding intervention is based on top-down research and perspectives. These perspectives often get things wrong or can only see part of the story.
