What is it about?

The aim of this study was to investigate if there is any relationship between musical preference, genre identification and frequency of listening to music genres, and whether musical training and gender played a role in these factors.

Why is it important?

The rareness of the studies regarding Turkish students is one of the major reasons to investigate this topic. Moreover different reactions can be expected from individuals that grow up in a country which is not completely western or eastern. Turkiye is a geographical, cultural and historical mixture of east and west. The traces of this mixture can be seen in every part of daily life. It is very exciting to seek out the preference characteristics of such population.
